0.090 6061 sheet
The bed side made from 0.050” 5052 aluminum with 0.100”-diameter rod beading and formed around wood master jig. The assy is flush riveted (MS20426AD4) except the for the forward cowl attachment which is riveted using (Ms20470AD4) rivets.
Stretching & shrinking angle to fit contour of the forward side of the bed.
The sides of the bed required some stiffening, I fabricated and riveted four angled gussets.
I had a custom bike shop in CA make this 0.060 spun aluminum mudguard and had a local tower shop weld it on to the bed.
I made the chain guard and attached it to the mudguard using four 3/16” bolts and nuts.
The pickup was a little too flexible when opening and closing the assembly, so I had to fabricate a couple of 0.050” aluminum scab angles and riveted them between the front cowl and bed side using MS20470AD4 rivets.
After repainting it for the 3rd time!
