Epilogue

The MX2 oil pump failures

With now over 600-miles on the electrical oil pumps on the Spitfire mog MX2, the system is running reliably and well. The oil is still very clean with no leaks.

As in all things mechanical, there is always a natural order of things, it turns out there was a logical reason to the multitude of failures of the new oil pump/crankcase combination… a case of linear logic, checking to see if there is petrol in the tank before you overhaul the engine. A very simple and basic problem of a missing hole!

One day when the somewhat irritating whine of the electric motors of the oil pumps get too much for me I will revert to the original 1930’s technology and install the original pump.
